The Litigation menu is where you can view and analyze all of your chart items and legal issues in a single consolidated space. This section provides multiple views of your case data—including table and timeline views—allowing you to organize, filter, and export the information you need for litigation preparation and case analysis.
The Litigation Space
The Litigation section contains three primary views:
- Fact Chart – Chart items organized in a table view
- Timeline View - a visual/scalable visualization of the events of your case that you have charted
- Legal Issues – A table of legal issues you've added to your case
Viewing and Managing Fact Charts
Chart items display in the Litigation section in a table view, which differs from the card view available in the Work Product section. This tabular layout allows you to see all of your chart items at once and quickly compare data across multiple rows.
Filtering and Sorting
You can filter and sort your chart items to find exactly what you need. Available filter and sort options include:
- Type
- Fact
- Statement
- Witness
- Source
- Event details (time and location)
Chart Links
The links included in the Fact Chart view will open the file that you charted your fact or statement and show the area that you had highlighted to create the chart item record. If you charted a section or line of text in a document, the link will bring you right to that document and scroll to the page where the section or line was highlighted. If you charted from a video or audio transcript, the link will bring you right to that video or audio file and scroll to that section of the transcript. You Can select the time in the interactive transcript to cue the video or audio right to that line and play the video or audio from that point.
In this way, the links includes in the Fact Chart are a very helpful way to jump right back to the file and find the information that you had charted as it is relevant to your case.
Exporting Fact Charts
You can export your Fact Charts in two formats to support your litigation workflow:
- PDF – For sharing, printing, or archiving
- Excel spreadsheet – For further analysis and manipulation in Excel
Timeline View
In addition to table view, Litigation offers a timeline view that allows you to visualize the chronological sequence of events in your case. This view is particularly useful for understanding how events unfolded over time and for presenting a clear narrative timeline.
The timeline is adjustable, allowing you to scale your view to see the time period and level of detail that best fits your needs. You can zoom in for a detailed view of a specific time period or zoom out to see the overall case timeline.
Important: The timeline is not yet automated by TrialKit. For events to display correctly in the timeline, you must manually add time and location information when you chart those items. Without this information, the events will not appear in the timeline view.
Viewing and Managing Legal Issues
The Litigation section also displays a table of all legal issues you've added to your case. This centralized view allows you to track and manage all relevant legal issues in one place.
Exporting Legal Issues
Similar to Chart Items you can export your Legal Issues table in PDF or Excel format for sharing, analysis, or further processing.
