TrialKit Release notes - version 1.0.1.0

TrialKit version 1.0.1.0 represents a significant milestone in our platform evolution. This release introduces a redesigned backend infrastructure that has been architected to enable rapid feature development and deployment. This new backend platform positions TrialKit to deliver new capabilities in the weeks and months ahead with significantly improved velocity.

While the majority of improvements in this release are foundational backend enhancements, we have also included several user-facing features that enhance the video and audio playback experience, improve transcript analysis capabilities, and make document processing and mark-up more efficient.

What's New

Redesigned Media Player

We have completely redesigned the video and audio player with a focus on usability and functionality:

  • Larger monitor space for video playback, providing an improved viewing experience for detailed content analysis
  • Streamlined, intuitive layout that reduces visual clutter and focuses on core functionality
  • Interactive transcripts that are fully synchronized with media playback
  • Technical metadata display for comprehensive media information

Enhanced Annotation Navigation

Transcript annotation and review has been enhanced with visual markers that make it easy to locate and manage all annotations:

  • Visual markers appear on the transcript scroll bar, indicating where notes, legal issues, and chart items have been added

  • Clicking any marker instantly scrolls to that point in the transcript and highlights the annotated text

  • A new annotation side panel displays all work product items associated with that transcript section

  • Annotated work product can be edited directly from the side panel for streamlined workflows

Improved Transcription Accuracy

Video and audio transcripts now include enhanced detail for more comprehensive analysis:

  • Transcription of sound effects and non-speech audio elements for complete media documentation
  • More granular detail throughout the transcript to support detailed analysis and annotation

AI Summaries for Silent Video

A major enhancement to our AI summarization capabilities now enables intelligent summaries for video content without audio:

  • Surveillance and drone footage can now be summarized automatically based on visual analysis of actions and events

  • Summaries are generated upon video upload using deep analysis of the visual content
  • Previously, AI summaries required audio transcripts; this enhancement removes that dependency

Automatic OCR of Documents upon Upload

All documents now automatically go through an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process upon upload. This process makes all readable text searchable on every document you add to your Case Files. This also allows for highlighting of text to add Notes, Legal Issues or Chart Items to any text within the documents expanding the ability to annotate your discovery files for easier case prep.

Known Changes

Temporarily Removed: Entity Extraction

Entity extraction for video files (thumbnail images of people, objects, keywords, etc.) has been temporarily removed in this release as we revise this capability on our new platform architecture. This feature is a priority for upcoming releases and will be reintroduced with enhanced functionality. We appreciate your patience as we work to bring this valuable tool back with improved performance and reliability.

Looking Ahead

The foundation established in version 1.0.1.0 sets the stage for rapid innovation. Our new backend platform has been designed with extensibility and speed in mind, enabling us to accelerate the delivery of requested features. You can expect a steady cadence of meaningful updates in the coming weeks and months.

Entity extraction for video and audio is actively being reimplemented on the new platform and will be released as soon as it is ready. In addition to this, we have a robust pipeline of enhancements in development that we are excited to share with you.
