Downloading and Exporting Files

TrialKit offers two ways to save files that had been uploaded to your Case Files to your computer: Download and Export. Both are useful for getting files out of TrialKit, but Export gives you the additional ability to rename files with a custom prefix — making it the go-to choice when you need to organize and label files for a specific purpose, such as creating exhibits from discovery files after a full case review.

Download vs. Export: What’s the Difference?

Download: saves files exactly as they are stored in TrialKit, preserving the original filenames.

Export: does everything Download does, but also lets you set a custom file prefix that will be applied to the exported filenames.

Exports additionally include a .csv index file that maps each original filename to its new exported filename — useful for maintaining a reference between your TrialKit files and the renamed versions.

Both functions package files into a zipped archive for download.

How to Download or Export Files

Downloading a Single File

  1. Navigate to a folder in TrialKit.
  2. Find the file you want to download.
  3. Click the ... (more options) menu to the right of the filename.
  1. Select Download.

The file will be downloaded immediately to your computer.

  2. Select the checkbox to the left of each file you want to download or export. You can select a single file or multiple files. To select all files in the page view, choose the box at the tope of the folder view window.

  1. Select the option for Actions in the menu that appears at the bottom of the screen
  2. Choose either Download or Export.
  1. If you choose Export, you will be prompted to enter a custom file prefix that will be applied to all exported filenames.

Retrieving Your Files from the Download Center

After initiating a download or export, your files are processed and made available in the Download Center, accessible from the top of any TrialKit screen.

•  Files remain available in the Download Center for up to 30 days.

•  All files are packaged as zipped archives.

•  Exports include a .csv index file listing original filenames alongside the new prefixed filenames for easy reference.

Open the Download Center at any time to retrieve pending or previously processed downloads and exports

.

Tips

•  Use Export when you need files labeled for a specific purpose — for example, renaming discovery documents as exhibits for trial.

•  The .csv index file included with exports makes it easy to cross-reference new filenames against their originals in TrialKit.

•  Check the Download Center if your files aren’t ready immediately — larger batches may take a moment to process.
