Sharing Discovery for TrialKit's Discovery Team to Upload

Your First Case

When you are new to TrialKit, our Discovery team will manage the initial prep, upload, and setup for your firm and your first case and then grant you access to the platform. We want to ensure that your first experience and training with TrialKit is with your own case discovery. To get started please follow these simple steps:

Reply-all to the "Welcome to TrialKit!" email you had received when you first signed up. In that reply, please tell us a little about the case you want to begin with. We want to understand the size and scope of the discovery we will upload to TrialKit, not the details of the matter, so we can provide an accurate timeline for the setup.

To the best of your ability please reply here with a general sense of:
  • File types - videos, documents, images, audio files, phone extracts, etc.File quantities - ballpark estimates are fine
  • General case size - again estimates are fine, but if the total size of all discovery data is available, that's perfect!
  • Please share any info on the case timing (and prioritization, if sharing multiple cases)

Next, we need to determine the best/easiest means for you to deliver the discovery to us. Here are some options with links to specific help articles that detail just how to share with each method:
Another option is for our team to create and share a Box folder for you on TrialKit’s own Box.com account Let us know if you would prefer to share your discovery files this way and see the article below for more information. If there is anyone else you would like to be added to your folder (ie: paralegals) please let us know.

If you have a physical drive that stores all of your case discovery and you want to send this to us for upload, you can do that as well. Let us know and we’ll share the shipping address.

Sharing Discovery: Best Practices

When sharing discovery via any of the methods above please follow these best practices:

  • Each case needs its own subfolder
  • It's best to upload the discovery as-received

Uploading Discovery Files Yourself in TrialKit

TrialKit offers you the ability to upload discovery for your case right from the interface. You can also contact discovery@trialkit.ai if you would like the TrialKit Discovery team to manage the upload on your behalf. Our team is here to support you however we can to ensure your case discovery is available to you and your teams in a timely manner.

To upload your discovery files directly through the TrialKit interface:

  1. Go to Case Files
  2. Click + Upload Discovery

The menu that will open offers you multiple options to upload your discovery files:

  1. You can choose to connect directly to local storage on your computer:

You can select Click to Upload and browse your computer's file explorer for the files you wish to upload, or you can drag and drop any file to upload into the space provided

Note: When uploading folders you need to use the drag and drop option. Simply drag the desired folder into the box indicated in the Upload Discovery submenu. Selecting a folder to upload from the file explorer window will only open that folder in the explorer.

Be mindful of how many subfolders and files may be containing in a folder when dragging to upload into TrialKit. Too many files, and subfolders, large files, or multiple files of unsupported file types can slow your upload time and restrict the data processing. As a best practice review the contents of each folder and reference the System Limitations menus before uploading to TrialKit.

  1. You can select any of the cloud service options and select the option to Connect to that service.

You will need to log in to your cloud storage provider and then you will be able to browse for folders and files on that platform to upload to TrialKit.

When choosing to upload Discovery files, it is a best practice to review the system limitation menu first. This menu can be found directly on the Upload Discovery sub-menu:

This menu will provide a guide for:

If you have discovery that does not meet these guidelines please contact discovery@trialkit.ai with details. The TrialKit Discovery team can assist in any conversions necessary to make sure that your files can be uploaded to the platform to help you and your teams.

Please also be sure to review these Best Practices when managing the direct upload of your case discovery:
